Apple to announce new devices next week, on October 27th

Apple to announce new devices next week, on October 27th

After Apple unveiled its two most important products for the year - the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus - the company is planning to hold another big event to announce new devices in another category: its Mac desktop and laptop lineup.

Technology blog Recode reports that Apple will hold its second fall event next week, on Thursday, October 27th, two days after the company reveals its quarterly financial results.

So what can we expect Apple to show us on October 27th?

Unfortunately, no mobile products are due for an upgrade or a new announcement. This will likely be an all Mac event, and one that's long been expected: Apple has not upgraded its Macs since 2015. And while these days the overwhelming majority of Apple's money comes from the iPhone, the Mac has proven to be resilient and popular contrary to expectations of it being slowly cannibalized by the iPad lineup.

In particular, the new hardware to expect on October 27th includes an upgraded Macbook Pro that is now expected to feature a thinner chassis, larger trackpad and a secondary display with custom shortcuts in lieu of the standard function keys of before. A new professional iMac is also expected to be unveiled, and Apple will also refresh its Macbook Air series, its cheapest laptops starting at $900.

For the curious ones, here's when Apple announced its mobile products earlier this year:
